Canola Oil contains only 7% saturated
fatty acids; about half the level present in corn oil, olive oil and
soybean oil and about one-quarter the level present in cottonseed
oil, due to which it is called as heart-friendly oil.
Recent nutrition recommendations call for a further reduction of total
fat intake to 30% and saturated fat intake to 10% of the total energy
intake. Amongst the common vegetable oils, canola oil is second only
to olive oil in monounsaturated (oleic acid) content.
Canola and soybean oils are among the few non-fish sources of Omega-3
Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) - as the name suggests are ‘essential’
and must be consumed regularly as the body has limited storage for
them. Omega-3 fatty acids are also known for their effectiveness in
lowering plasma cholesterol level, a major risk factor in coronary
heart diseases.
PROVEN BENEFITS OF EVA CANOLA OIL:
Canola Oil’s three nutrients namely; oleic acid, alpha-linolenic acid
and vitamin E make it a Triple Crown winner in the prevention of coronary
heart disease and stroke because Canola Oil protects our blood vessel
linings from any radical damage.
Canola oil is full of vitamin E, which is the collective name for
eight naturally occurring molecules, of which alpha-tocopherol is
the most active compound. Alpha-tocopherol is the most powerful fat-soluble
antioxidant found in blood plasma. Eating vitamin E rich foods everyday
may help reduce the risk of heart diseases, cancer and memory loss.
One tablespoon of EVA Canola Cooking Oil provides about 25% of the
Recommended Dietary Allowance for alpha-tocopherol for adults aged
19 years and older. EVA Canola Oil contains 100% Pure Canola Oil,
Vitamin A (33iu/g), Vitamin D (2.64iu/g) and Vitamin E (60mg/kg)
Canola originally stems from Canada, however, now canola is grown
and consumed around the world as a superior edible oilseed. The canola
plant grows two to six feet tall and produces yellow flowers. These
flowers produce seed pods about two inches long, similar in shape
to pea pods. The seedpods contain twenty or more tiny round black
or brownish-yellow seeds. Each seed contains at least 40 percent oil,
which is extracted to produce EVA Oil.
Canola oil remains free running when stored
in refrigerator. Canola oil is light in colour and taste and blends
well with many different spices and herbs.
